What’s in a Name?

People often ask whether to use the terms Latino, Latinx, Latine or some other word to describe the community. Justice for Migrant Women and The Latinx House use and accept all of the terms- Hispanic, Latino, Latina, Latin@, Latinx, and Latine. We believe that it is important for people to use the terms that they feel most comfortable with. The government and government data often refers to the term “Hispanic.” People have embraced Latinx and Latine to signal acceptance and inclusion of people with different gender identities and preferences.

A Celebration of Latine Roots

Raizado means deeply rooted, and the festival honors how the Latine community is deeply rooted in the fabric of the United States.

Through this festival, we aim to develop deep relationships and networks, and to send a clear message about the many important ways in which the Latine community contributes to this nation’s prosperous future, while remaining connected to our own cultural identity.
